Devious Journal Entry

Tue Dec 1, 2009, 1:23 PM
Alright fellow deviants, before I talk about all the movies I’ve seen this week, I’d like to suggest a show for everyone who loves Sci- fi. Stargate Universe Is a must see for people who even like the slightest bit of Sci fi things. It’s not too science fiction where it has you scratching your head going “huh?” There’s also just enough drama to add tension and enough suspense in some episodes that has you nail biting. Also GAMERS will adore Eli He’s a fellow hardcore gamer who you can relate to since everyone else has a military probe up their butt.

Now I have a load of reviews in store for those movie goers out there. First up is the newest release in theaters.

.: New Moon :.

I seen this thanksgiving with my mother and we share the same opinion about this one. It was okay. Yeah, sorry twihards but it wasn’t as epic as it could of been. Now I’m a fan of the books, and even those are lacking in some serious areas. Regardless, Kristin Stewart needs some acting classes or something. I mean yeah, she did good on some parts, but others...it felt like she was just reading a script and that was it. Same with Taylor Launter, I mean, dude, you make me want to root for Jacob but the wolf animation had more emotion than your acting. D:
Also, Rob... If your gonna take off your shirt, the least you could do is work out a little more. Hell, Taylor did enough working out for both of you. Okay, now that I picked on you guys enough, let’s get on to the real review.
Some parts were sluggish which happens sometimes in book adaptations. {Harry potter had this problem, though it was small} This is one movie I wouldn’t want to see over and over again like some younger teenage girls said they would. I admit, it was way better than Cathrine Hardwick’s Twilight piece of crap.
The music was good on some parts, Love Muse as always, the action sequences were good and not too over the top like Transformers was.

Final Verdict

See it at least once, wether your renting or going to the movies. It was worth what I paid... $5.

Fans of the series will appreciate certain parts, especially the cliff scene and the Volturi. I liked seeing some new faces {most of the Volturi and the Wolf Pack} Sorry Dakota Fanning, but any little girl could of done Jane’s role. The acting is sometimes lacking and feels like your watching one of their practice runs. I still think someone else could of played Bella and Edward. {Edward = Hayden Christianson :heart: }
I do however like the new director that did this one. Too bad a different director is doing Eclipse. Let’s hope that one is even better.

.: Star Trek :.

Let me just start off by saying. “OMFG” This was one of the best movies of the year that came out. J.J. Abrams is a genius. The unique cast brings it all together. First off you have Zackary Quinto {Sylar on Heroes} as Spock. His performance was amazing. I didn’t see Sylar at all when I was looking at him playing Spock. Chris Pine did a pretty great job at James Tiberius Kirk as well. I had seen a few of his previous roles in a couple of {not so good films} But sometimes, you can’t blame the actor, he was doing his part, it’s not his fault the writers and the plot of “Lucky “ sucked. I thought giving the original Spock { name } a cameo was pretty awesome too. Can you believe that J.J. had offered William Shatner a Cameo but his inflated ego decided that what they had to offer him wasn’t enough screen time? Well regardless, Simon Pegg in is first real action/sci fi movie was pretty epic, he added a bit of comedy relief. John Cho brought personality as Sulu as well.
The Special effects and sounds were right on the dot and made the experience even more magical. Now believe it or not, I wasn’t a fan of Star Trek. I’m more of a Jedi/Sith fan. But after seeing this “beginning” to a new era, It makes me want to watch some of the “older” movies/series that were made.

Final Verdict

Live long and prosper

Those were the two big reviews I was going to go in depth with. Now for some other rentals you can pick up {or not} with some small reviews.

.: The Proposal :.

This was a pretty decent and funny romantic/comedy movie featuring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. The basic plot was mostly explained in the trailers. A dragon lady of a boss is going to be deported back to Canada if she doesn’t do something about it. So she drags her assistant into a big mess that leads up to some magic.
Sometimes I think I should write movies because now and days half of them are very predictable, I knew what was going to happen but wanted to go along the ride anyways. I muse say though, I don’t regret it.

.: The Ugly Truth :.

This was a pretty dang great romantic comedy. Some of the humor is crass, but that’s what makes it different than others. They go for the gold. Regardless, Gerard Butler does a great performance and works well with Kathrine Higl {Grey’s Anatomy} It’s sort of like “He’s just not that in to you” but better..and it makes you laugh.

.: I love you Beth Cooper :.

Let’s start off by saying... I wish they would of casted someone else as the main male, sorry folks but his looks aren’t great. I mean I know he’s suppose to be some nerd, but come on, I’ve seen some pretty hot nerds before. {Milo Ventimilgia for example!} But regardless, it was an...okay film. There was some comedy but it was slow moving and I almost wanted to shut it off in the beginning. Hayden Panitierre dresses a little skimpy in here, but that’s her character... Another cheerleader, didn’t see that one coming. She was in Bring it on 654844212 {cheerleader movie}, her character Clare is an Ex Cheerleader and oh look... her character in here is a cheerleader. I wonder if she was a real one too. Wouldn’t surprise me if she likes playing herself. Oh yeah and there’s no Real plot here.

.: Orphan :.

A little slow in the beginning but it certainly speeds up in the middle and end. Well worth waiting through the beginning as it tries to start the plot. Basically Mother loses third child as a still birth, she still feels like she wants to give her love to another child, so they adopt. Only they adopt the worst kind of child. An insane one. Crazy stuff happens, there’s accidents, murder and a little twist comes undone that makes you go. Ohhh. Although I already knew what the twist was before going into it thanks to people who had seen it before. All I want to know if what kind of special effects or make-up did they use for the “little girl”.

.: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs :.

The animations of the animals are done clean and give you the same atmosphere two films ago. It’s funny in some areas and it makes you go aww in others. I think it would of been nice if momma Dino talked though. The fact that all the dinosaurs go rawr is a little unnerving. Great raptors though. The baby t-rexes were cute too. Great for families. :]

.: Aliens in the Attic :.

I have no idea who is in this movie, the only guy that’s familiar has been seen in Weeds and Grandma’s boy who plays the father to “Tom”. Yeah the kid that’s really smart and always getting in trouble in this movie if you happened to see this waste of a time movie. I mean, it’s okay to watch if there’s nothing else on. Other than that, the plot is simple. Aliens land on their roof and take out the satilite with it. There’s four of em, The commander, Razor, Tazer and Sparks. {Sounds like crappy pet names} They’re small and are set on killing everyone. The kids fight back since they aren’t affected by this device that can control you if your shot in the neck. Yatta Yatta, oh yeah Ashley Tisdale’s in here and she’s terrible. Anyways, long story short...
